National Championship Regatta, June 8-13, 2024

The North Star Sail Club, Catalina 22 Fleet 130, and the Catalina 22 National Sailing Association are pleased to present the Notice of Race (NoR), Sailing Instructions, and online registration for the 2024 Catalina 22 National Championship Regatta. The event will take place June 8 to 13 on Anchor Bay / Lake St. Clair, Michigan.

Welcome New Fleets in Alabama, Florida and Kentucky

WELCOME ABOARD! The Catalina 22 National Sailing Association is pleased to welcome three newly established fleets in 2023 - Fleet #148 of Pensacola, Florida, Fleet #149 of Cave Run, Kentucky, and Fleet #150 of Birmingham, Alabama. 

Fleet #148 is based out of Grand Lagoon Yacht Club and the Pensacola Yacht Club. The new fleet sails the waters of Pensacola Bay, Grand Lagoon, and Perdido Bay. Fleet Captain is Mark Heinold.

Fleet #149 is based out of Cave Run Lake near Morehead, Kentucky. Fleet captain is Mark Breeden. Fleet 149 already has five C22NSA members and will focus on racing.

Fleet #150 is based out of the Birmingham Sailing Club located on Logan Martin Lake. Fleet captain is P.J. Callahan. BSC has a very active racing program with a strong Thistle and Flying Scot fleet.

Thanks to Pensacola Yacht Club as the host venue for the 2023 Jubilee Regatta featuring Lightning, Thistle and Catalina22 fleets. Hal Smith and his Race Committee team did a phenomenal job as usual getting five races in over two days of light to very light wind conditions under sunny skies and 75 degrees as the Navy’s Blue Angel F-18 Hornets performed overhead.

A Father Son Sail

Enjoy a video presented by the Adventures of Lake Shark called "A Father Son Sail" featuring National Cruising Captain Stuart Weist and his son Eric. Their sailing adventure takes place on the Mississippi River from Redwing, Minnesota to Wabasha, Minnesota.

Dixie Sailing Club - Po Ol Kowaliga Regatta Report

This year, the Dixie Sailing Club on Lake Martin, Alabama, reinstituted the Po Ol Kowaliga Regatta. The POK was our open multi-hull regatta in the Fall that drew local and Gulf Coast sailors for many years. With less multi-hull participation in the 90s, the POK became an open regatta. This year, we had good local participation but no traveling sailors. Our C22 fleet of 28 boats includes current C22 National Gold Champion Keith Bennett, C22 National Silver Fleet Champion Bobby Edmond, and past C22 National Gold Champion Mickey Richardson.

The Fall 2023 MainBrace is now available and also includes the "Welcome to Silver Fleet" content in its entirety as part of the renewed effort by the Catalina 22 National Sailing Association to encourage new Catalina 22 sailors to participate in the Silver Fleet at Association's annual National Championship Regatta.  A standalone version of the "Welcome to Silver Fleet: Enjoy the Fun of Catalina 22 Racing!" is also available.
