Chip Embrey Wins Gold Rush

Congratulations to Chip Embrey and crew Chip Bunata who won this year's Gold Rush Regatta hosted by the Grapevine Sailing Club the weekend of September 9 and 10. David Hayslip finished in second place. Jeffrey Raynal finished in third place.

Welcome New Fleets in Florida and Kentucky

Welcome New Fleets in Florida and Kentucky

WELCOME ABOARD! The Catalina 22 National Sailing Association is pleased to welcome two newly established fleets - Fleet #148 of Pensacola, Florida, and Fleet #149 of Cave Run, Kentucky. 

Fleet #148 is based out of Grand Lagoon Yacht Club and the Pensacola Yacht Club. The new fleet sails the waters of Pensacola Bay, Grand Lagoon, and Perdido Bay. Fleet Captain is Mark Heinold.

Fleet #149 is based out of Cave Run Lake near Morehead, Kentucky. Fleet captain is Mark Breeden. Fleet 149 already has five C22NSA members and will focus on racing.

John Handler Wins Region 4 Championship

John Handler Wins Region 4 Championship

Congratulation to John Handler and his crew Stuart Muir and Chuck Cirgenski who won the 2023 Region 4 Championship the weekend of August 26 & 27 on Lake St. Clair, Michigan. The event was part of the North Star Sail Club's Throwdown in Motown Regatta.  Competing in the Region 4 Championship were 9 other boats including skippers and crew from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. 

As part of the six races for the Throwdown in Motown Regatta, Team Handler finished in second place, just one point behind current National Champion Keith Bennett.  

Jake Wolny finished in second place. Mark Breeden finished in third place.

Catalina 22 Regatta Featured on Great Lakes Sailing

The Throwdown in Motown Regatta was a tremendous success! Watch the video by Inside Great Lake Sailing with host Greg Normand that features several Catalina 22 sailors as they talk about the Catalina 22, this year's Region 4 Championship regatta, and preparing for the 2024 Nationals to be held on Lake St. Clair, Michigan and hosted by the North Star Sail Club.

The Catalina 22 segment is featured during the first 22 minutes of the video.

Screamin' Wins Throwdown

Congratulations to Keith Bennett, Mickey Richardson and Gene Cochran who won the 2023 Throwdown in Motown Regatta the weekend of August 26 & 27 on Anchor Bay / Lake St. Clair, Michigan.

Gone With The Wind Regatta, October 28 & 29

Doug Thome has announced the 2023 Gone With The Wind Regatta will be the weekend of October 28 & 29 on Lake Lanier, Georgia. Save the dates and join Fleet 58 and the Lake Lanier Sailing Club for a fun regatta just 45 miles north of Atlanta. The NoR will be available from this site in the very near future. For now, spread the word. 

 

Region 4 Fall Regattas

The following two fall regattas are scheduled in Region 4:

  • September 23 & 24, Grand Annual Regatta, Cave Run Sailing Association, Morehead, Kentucky, link to EVENT page. 
  • October 7 & 8, Old Fox Regatta, Alum Creek Sailing Association, Columbus, Ohio, link to EVENT page
